Chamber threatens lawsuit over new slogan
Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lucy Ivins has sent a letter to Sparks city officials threatening a lawsuit if they use the slogan "City of Festivals."

The following information was provided by the Nye County Sheriff's Office. All crimes are alleged and all defendants are presumed innocent:

'March Madness' Senior Resource Carnival
Nathan Adelson Hospice is again sponsoring its Senior Resource Carnival. This year, the event will be 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. March 19, in the Pahrump Nugget Events Center and the theme is "March Madness, it's all about Pahrump Seniors."

Lenders will own casinos in proposal
Operations at Terrible's Town and Terrible's Lakeside Casino will continue as usual, but the casinos will soon be owned by lending institutions if the latest financial restructuring plan for Herbst Gaming is approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Judge Lane throws out Comstock HOA lawsuit
Fifth District Judge Robert Lane late last week granted a defense motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the Comstock Park Homeowners Association against a handful of board opponents.

No one matched all five numbers and the mega number in Wednesday's drawing of the California Super Lotto. The next jackpot will be at least $20 million.

Fundraiser for sheriff's deputy
A fundraiser is planned at the Stateline Saloon in Amargosa Valley March 21 and March 28 to raise funds for Joe and Tootsie Cohan whose house burned down last Friday.

It took Thelma Sherman more than three years to graduate from the Nye County School District's adult education program, but at age 70, it was, she said, "Just something I wanted to do." Sherman spoke at the Feb. 26, school district board of trustees meeting.
