BEATTY -- The Beatty High School baseball team travels to Pahranagat Valley Friday to open its 2009 season in the Alamo Invitational tournament.

The Brian Hayes-coached Hornets and the host Panthers, along with Sandy Valley and Carlin are entered in the two-day mixed format tournament.

The teams will play a round-robin series, with the teams then seeded for a bracket event.

Carlin is from the Nevada Eastern 1-A Division, while the other three teams are out of the Southern 1-A League.

The pairings:

Friday

9 a.m. -- Alamo vs. Beatty.

11:30 a.m. -- Beatty vs. Carlin.

2 p.m. -- Sandy Valley vs. Carlin.

4:30 p.m. -- Alamo vs. Sandy Valley.

Saturday

9 a.m. -- Carlin vs. Alamo.

11:30 a.m. -- Sandy Valley vs. Beatty.

2 p.m. -- No. 3 seed vs. No. 4.

4:30 p.m. -- No. 1 seed vs. No. 2.

The games will be five innings or under a two-hour time limit.
