Looking for something to do this weekend, while you wonder where your stimulus check is?

There will be rodeo and motorsports to grab your attention, at McCullough Arena and Amargosa Valley.

Today, Saturday and Sunday, the Nevada High School Rodeo Association will be in town for three days of action in McCullough Arena. Competition starts at 8 a.m. each day.

Pahrump Valley High School cowboys and cowgirls will be the hosts for the event, which has teams from all over Nevada expected to compete.

This is the 2008-2009 season's third rodeo; previous events were at Ely White Pine, Pahranagat Valley Alamo-Mesquite, as well as Las Vegas-Moapa Valley.

The high schoolers will be in Fernley next weekend.

* At Amargosa Valley, Death Valley Raceway's second regular-season program of the season is Saturday, with action on the one-third mile dirt oval starting at 1 p.m.

The IMCA modifieds return, along with mini-stocks, super stocks, Dwarf cars and micro-sprints.
