After a dozen years of planning and a few hopeful but false starts, Nye County has a Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) and forensic examination facility to be proud of.

BEATTY -- The Feb. 25 Beatty Town Advisory Board meeting was lengthened considerably by lack of agreement or understanding on matters of legal interpretation and semantics involving a draft open space plan and the Nevada Revised Statutes dealing with such plans.

'Robin Hood' gives richly
Once again, the Pahrump Arts Council will bring the Missoula Children's Theatre to the stage of the auditorium at Pahrump Valley High School. This time, the play is "Robin Hood" and auditions for the 50-plus available roles will start at 4 p.m., Monday, March 9 at the high school.

AMARGOSA VALLEY -- It wasn't the Hudson River, and there were only four people aboard, but all escaped without injury when a single-engine Cessna stalled and crashed here early Friday afternoon, Feb. 27.

Death Valley Art Show next weekend
FURNACE CREEK, Calif. -- Every year the Death Valley Chamber of Commerce hosts an art show at the Furnace Creek Ranch in Death Valley. This year's event will take place March 14 and 15, with a variety of fine arts and crafts on display.
