Weekly, Sposato among honorees

Marvin Weekly and Laura Sposato were among Pahrump Valley's winter activities award winners, named at a program Tuesday night in the high school gym.

Weekly, a senior guard, led the Trojans' boys basketball team in scoring, steals and rebounds.

Also earning basketball honors were Mike Amburgey (most blocks), Chase Williams (Blood n'guts award) and David Smith (most improved). Tyler True led the Trojans in assists.

Sposato was named the most valuable cheerleader. Brooke Beckett won the coach's award. Bethani Jackson was most spirited and Alexis Carroll most improved.

Zach Weldon was named the Trojans' most valuable wrestler. Taylor Gourley (most improved), Travis Linsday (most improved), Chris DeMille (hardest worker) and Anderson Floyd (hardest worker) were also honored.

Dance team awards went to Toria Dance (most improved), Danielle Schlapia (most improved), Jessica James (spirit) and Jill Wulfenstein (coach's award).

In girls' basketball, Kristi Daffer was the most valuable player, offensive player of the year and earned the fighter award.

Ashley Lindgren (defensive player of the year), Casey Scheller (coach's award), Alyson Kunzi (free-throw percentage leader), Toi'Eisha Simmons (most assists) and Vanella Veloz (hustler award) were also recognized.
