The now-delayed realignment proposal from the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association would have had Beatty, Tonopah and Round Mountain moving into Division III in the 2009-2010 school year.

NIAA members would have been aligned into three classifications -- Division I, Division II and Division III -- had the association agreed to that proposal. At an association meeting held in Reno June 16-17, any action was delayed until spring 2010.

Division III would have included schools now classifiied in Classes 1-A and 2-A.

In the Eastern Region with the Muckers and Knights would have been Austin, Battle Mountain, Carlin, Eureka, Independence, Jackpot, Lund, Owyhee, Wells, West Wendover and Ely White Pine. There were no league designations listed in this proposal.

In D-III South would have been Beatty (Nye County), as well as Las Vegas Adelson Prep, Summerlin Agassi Prep, Las Vegas Calvary Chapel, Las Vegas Explore Knowledge Academy, Henderson International, Indian Springs, Lake Mead Christian Academy, Laughlin, Lincoln County, Las Vegas The Meadows, Las Vegas Mountain View Christian, Needles (Calif.), Pahranagat Valley Alamo, Sandy Valley, Spring Mountain and Las Vegas Trinity Christian.

In D-III West would have been Nye County's Gabbs, along with Coleville (Calif.), Sparks Excel Christian, Gerlach, Incline, McDermitt, Mineral County Hawthorne, North Tahoe, Pershing County Lovelock, Pyramid Lake, Reno Sage Ridge, Minden Sierra Lutheran, Silver Stage, Virginia City and Zephyr Cove Whittell.

In Division II Sunrise and Sunset regionals would have been Pahrump Valley and Las Vegas Faith Lutheran, as well as several now Class 4-A schools in the greater Las Vegas area: Basic, Canyon Springs, Chaparral, Del Sol, Vo-Tech, Sunrise Mountain (new in 2009-2010), Arbor View, Clark, Desert Oasis, Legacy, Mojave and Western, along with current 3-A schools Boulder City, Mesquite Virgin Valley and Overton Moapa Valley.

Northern D-II members would have included Churchill County Fallon, Elko, Reno Hug, South Tahoe and Reno Wooster -- all now classified in 4-A. Dayton, Fernley, Winnemucca Lowry, 2-A Yerington Rite of Passage, Sparks, Spring Creek, Truckee (Calif.) and Yerington would have been D-II members in the North.

The Division I realignment would have had Sunrise Region schools Coronado, Desert Pines, Eldorado, Foothill, Green Valley, Las Vegas, Liberty, Rancho, Silverado and Valley, with Bishop Gorman, Bonanza, Centennial, Cheyenne, Cimarron-Memorial, Durango, Palo Verde, Shadow Ridge, Sierra Vista and Spring Valley in the Sunset.

Northern D-I schools would have been Bishop Manogue, Carson, Damonte Ranch, Douglas County, Galena, McQueen, North Valleys, Reed, Reno and Spanish Springs.

A few alernate proposals have been presented to the NIAA, which likely will take action in spring 2010, after the association has had significant time to study them all.
