AMARGOSA VALLEY -- Robert Smotherman won the IMCA modified feature race at Death Valley Raceway Saturday, which will remain open throughout the summer instead of shutting down because of difficult summer weather conditions.

Jason Pike, who won the trophy dash and a heat, Terri Little and Jim Maddox were in the modified main.

Mike Lysinger won the super stocks heat and main, with Dan Snowden, Skip Henderson and Pete Wallace also on the grid.

G Verne was the mini-stock winner, with John Burch, Keith Young (the heat winner), Jonathan Burch and Stacy Stinson also competing.

Instead of being idle in June, July and August as originally scheduled, there will be races twice a month on Saturdays throughout the summer.

Action on the one-third-mile dirt oval will begin at 7:30 p.m. each night throughout the summer season. Succeeding races will be contested July 11 and 25, Aug. 8 and 22 and Sept. 5 and 19. Races are to start at 7:30 p.m., with the schedule subject to change.
