County's attorney to defend museumPVT
Pahrump Museum and Historical Society members were still very tight-lipped about any details concerning the closure of the Pahrump Valley Museum June 11. But attorney Rebecca Bruch, from Reno, did confirm she will be defending board members on behalf of Nye County in a lawsuit filed by former employee George John Weisser. So the museum and historical society, a non-profit corporation, as well as former treasurer, co-defendant Phil Huff, won't be left having to pay for their own legal representation. "I am representing them and I also represent Nye County," Bruch said. She added, "I have a policy I don't discuss cases that are ongoing." Harry Ford, the founder of the museum, pointed out the museum closure is only temporary. But he didn't say why it had to be closed due to a lawsuit. "It's temporarily closed. We haven't locked the place up," Ford said. "We've been told not to talk to anybody about this case." Ford also mentioned the new addition to the museum building is supposed to arrive July 6. Nye County Commissioners voted last April to accept a $38,696 bid from Vincent Development of Henderson for a 50-foot by 95-foot metal building. It will be added to the south end of the museum at 401 E. Basin Ave. |
