An unidentified bicycle rider was traveling at high speed when he lost control and crashed into a utility pole just after 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 14. He rode down the steep downhill portion of Charleston Park Avenue.

It was speculated on the scene that the man intended to turn right onto Shoshone Road.

The rider was able to walk away from the crash. Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue Services responded to the accident call and found him in the parking lot near Phantom Fireworks. They transported him to Desert View hospital for treatment.

Fire Chief Scot Lewis and a deputy on the scene suggested the cyclist was pedaling along at around 50 mph when he crashed.
