Junior golf attracts big field

More than 80 boys and girls participated in the Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association's clinic last week. Most of them played in the first summer tournament of the season Saturday at the Lakeview Executive course.

Fifty-four competed in the medal-play tournament on the par 59, 3,500-yard Exec layout, which will be the site for the annual Inferno Open on the Fourth of July.

The age-group winners:

Girls 9-11: Samantha Aliero 51 (9 holes);

Boys 9-11: Derek Moore 42;

Girls 7-8: Jackie Stobbe 53;

Boys 7-8: Marc Worden 41;

Girls 12-14: Zoe Bertz 35-35--70 (18 holes)

Boys 12-14: Samuel Tietjen 33-32--65;

Girls 15-18: Ashley Keller 36-35--71;

Boys 15-18: Elliott Owens 32-29--61.
