NCSO issues credit card fraud warning

PVT

The Nye County Sheriff's Office issued a warning to Pahrump residents about numerous incidents of credit card fraud centered around customers making purchases at the Winery Super Mart Shell Station at Winery Road and Highway 160.

In all cases, a customer made a purchase at the Super Mart before the fraudulent transactions appeared on their credit card statements. The bogus purchases were made at various casinos in Las Vegas.

The Sheriff's Office, Shell and the Winery Super Mart are working together to ascertain how the credit card account information is being compromised.

Sheriff Tony DeMeo is asking anyone who has been a victim or has information that could lead to identifying the perpetrator to call the detective division at the Sheriff's Office. He also said, "If you have been a victim of fraud, contact your credit card company."

DeMeo will hold a public open forum at Wulfy's Sports Bar at 1 p.m. June 28.
