Nugget gears up for wine event June 28
By CHARLENE DEAN
The wine events hosted monthly by the Pahrump Nugget are usually staged in the small banquet room at the rear of the Stockman's Steakhouse. However, the event scheduled for June 28 will be held in the event center. The format changes each month in a continued effort to present a different experience and this one will be no exception as there will be more room to get up, move around and socialize in a relaxed but structured afternoon. The event will not be a dinner as in past presentations, but wine and appetizers. The time has changed - and the day. This event will be Sunday at 3 p.m. The wines, this time, will be paired with individual appetizer courses set up in five individual food stations. Servers will plate and pour for the tasters. For appetizers, the menu will be filling. The first wine will be a chardonnay paired with a citrus and berry salad on a bed of fresh field greens and served with raspberry vinaigrette. The second wine, a red zinfandel will be paired with crab cakes topped with a Creole sauce and the third wine will be a cabernet paired with beef and chicken satay served with a light teriyaki dipping sauce. Next will be two pastas, one with an Alfredo sauce and the other with Chef Bill's homemade marinara. The wine for pasta is a pinot noir. Finally, and new to the experience, will be a dessert Muscat wine accompanied by an assortment of delicate sweets. The experience should be a leisurely one with some information about the wines to be presented in between courses. The wines offered this time have been specially ordered and specially priced by the Nugget Operations Manger Jeffrey Rathjen and are not available in Pahrump. The Nugget will offer them for sale by the bottle, case and mixed case at the end of the event. Tickets are $40 per person and reservations aren't necessary for the event. For more information, call 751-6500. |
