Entertainment Briefs
KNYE pool party KNYE Radio will celebrate 10 years from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 20, with a pool party at Saddle West. There will be free hot dogs, hamburgers, and soda. There will also be drawings for prizes and music. Karen Jackson will be the hostess and the event is free and open to the public. Summer Hoedown The Knights of Columbus will host a Summer Hoedown 6-9 p.m., June 20 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, 781 E. Gamebird Road. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers, baked beans, macaroni and cheese, punch and coffee. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Live entertainment will be provided by Desert Knights. The cost is $10 per person and tickets will be on sale at Mass or at the door. Free swim nights in June There will be free swim evenings at the community pool on the following dates. Family Nights -- June 22, 6-9 p.m., youth must be accompanied by an adult. Teen Nights -- June 19 and 26, 6-9 p.m., ages 13-18. For more information on sponsoring a free swim night, call 727-9970. Farmers' market The weekly farmers' market started May 23 and will continue 7 a.m. to noon, Saturdays through the summer at the Bob Ruud Community Center. ARES Field Day The ARES/RACES Ham operators are holding the annual Field Day from noon June 27 to noon June 28 at the operations center, 1510 Siri Lane. This will be an on-the-air operations event, part education and part fun. Call 727-9167 for more information. Singles Club schedule The Pahrump Singles Friendship Club will meet at the following times and places during the month of June. Blue Butterfly Coffeehouse The fifth annual Blue Butterfly Coffee House, sponsored by Nathan Adelson Hospice, will be at 7 p.m., July 11 in the Pahrump Nugget Events Center. Safety in the sun Family to Family recommends the following tips for playing it safe in the sun: * Use sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day. * Apply sunscreen before going outside and reapply often, especially after swimming, perspiring and toweling off. * Wear a wide-brimmed hat and use UV protective sunglasses. * Stay hydrated, drink plenty of fluids and offer fluids to children. * Remember, a child's core body temperature increases three to five times faster than an adult. Bike Night is back Motorcycle enthusiasts will meet for Bike Night at 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays at Sonic on Highway 160. Not having a bike is not a problem. Call 513-1742 for more information.
