Nye County confirms payday loan dispersal
Rent-A-Center won't be able to open a kiosk offering short-term loans, after Nye County Commissioners voted 3-1 Tuesday to uphold a recommendation by the Pahrump Regional Planning Commission requiring a 1,500-foot distance between check cashing and payday loan businesses.

Nugget gears up for wine event June 28
The wine events hosted monthly by the Pahrump Nugget are usually staged in the small banquet room at the rear of the Stockman's Steakhouse. However, the event scheduled for June 28 will be held in the event center.

TV Tower is on its way up
Pahrump residents throughout the valley have been unable to view their favorite television shows broadcast from Las Vegas since October 2008, when the communications tower located behind the Valley Auto Mall toppled. Their wait will be over around July 7, when the upgraded communications tower is complete.

Task force makes arrests
On Tuesday, June 16, Pahrump streets were made safer after 22 arrests of individuals heavily involved in the narcotics sub-culture were made by members of the Nye County Sheriff's Office SCORPION Narcotics Task Force and the NCSO Street Crimes Unit.

Dancing with the Stars
Relay for Life teams around the valley are coming up with some very creative ways to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Next Saturday, the United We Stand team will give Pahrump a chance to see a local version of Dancing with the Stars.
