SERIES AT MOUNTAIN FALLS Good scores win in Farmers golf

Some excellent scores were reported Sunday as the Farmers Cup Adult-Junior Golf Series got underway at Mountain Falls. In the boys 15-18 division, two teams tied for first place with 3-under par 69s: Daniel Shimakawa and Bob Hopkins and Shane Lindemann and Rachel Lindemann. Each team earned 15 Cup points. In girls 15-18, Ashley Keller and Brownie Brown closed at two-over 74; they were the only players in that division. In boys 12-14, J.P. Sheehan and Jack Sheehan had 72, edging Anthony Worden and Larry Goins by two strokes. Zoe Bertz and Dennis Bertz. as well as Whitney Roderick and Joe Roderick tied for first in the girls 12-14 division with 81s. In the boys 9-hole competition, Derek Moore and Mark Owens finished with 38. Tyler Floyd and Julie Floyd had 34 in the boys 6-8 flight. Lauren Koenig and Jeff Koenig had 44 to win the girls 9-11 division; that score was matched by Jacqueline Ruud and Robin Ruud in the girls 6-8 flight. Other scores: Boys 15-18 -- Eric Amundson-Jim Amundson 72, Elliott Owens-Nick Owqens 73, Brad Rowland-Bob Rowland 74, Connor White-Doug Martin 104. Boys 12-14 -- Sam Tietjan-Duane Keidel 85, Thomas Normandeau-Gilbert Normandeau 85, Conan White-James White 92, Logan Ancell-Mike Kocvara 98, Jason Runnion-Paul Runnion 107. Boys 9-11 -- Luke Tietjan-Mike Tietjan 42, Craig Moore-Brian Moore 45, Colton Stevens-Chris Stevens 47, Austin Ancell-Ryan Ancell 47. Boys 6-8 -- Joe Koenig-Darrell Koenig 42, Marc Worden-Robert Worden 47, Jacob Kostuchowski-Dan Kostuchowski 49. * The series will continue July 12 and end Aug. 9. The tournament format calls for an adult and a junior player to form a team for medal play. Players 6-8 and 9-11 will play nine-hole matches, while players 12-14 and 15-18 will compete in 18-hole rounds. The costs are $20 for all junior players; $25 for adults playing with a 6-8 or 9-11 golfer and $35 for adults playing in an 18-hole match. Pre-registration will be required before each match, with the deadlines July 8 for the second, and Aug. 5 for the finale. All matches will be played at Mountain Falls. First-place medals will be awarded in each division. First-, second- and third-place teams in each age division will receive medals. |
