Free computer class Nye County Health and Human Services through a Community Service Block Grant will join with Great Basin College and Nevada JobConnect to offer a free one day, basic computer training class from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Nevada JobConnect offices, 1541 E. Basin Ave. The free class is open for those meeting income requirements, grant requirements, are seeking employment and who desire skills to create cover letters and resumes, use Internet browsers and e-mail, etc. There are 20 spaces available. Required documents must be provided and eligibility satisfied in order to take the class. Call 751-7095 to apply and get document requirement information. Family to Family Calendar The Center has moved to a new location at 621 S. Blagg Road, behind No to Abuse. Summer hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. beginning June 1. The schedule for Family to Family Connection for June: June 17 -- family vehicle safety class, 10 a.m., registration and fee required. June 19 -- CPR class, 11 a.m., registration required. June 22 -- Ages to Stages developmental screening, call for appointment. June 25 -- Nurturing parenting class, Amargosa Apostolic Church, 10 a.m. June 25 -- food pantry, Amargosa Valley Senior Center. June 26 -- NEIS Explore and Learn playgroup, 11 a.m. Mondays -- Prenatal parenting class, 1-3 p.m. Tuesdays -- Nurturing Parent class, 1-3 p.m., Spanish. Wednesdays -- Nurturing Parent class, 1-3 p.m., English. Thursdays -- Mommy and me play group, 1 p.m. The resource lending library is open 8-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Seminar for diabetics Desert View Hospital, in cooperation with Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, will present a "Know Your Numbers" program 10-11 a.m. June 17 in the training room at Desert View Hospital. Seating is limited to 30. Call 751-7579 for reservations. The seminar is free and open to the public. Farmers' market The weekly farmers' market started May 23 and will continue 7 a.m. to noon, Saturdays through the summer at the Bob Ruud Community Center. Soroptimists raffle Soroptimist International Pahrump Valley is having a $1,000 raffle for either a gas card or a Home Depot card. The tickets are $10 each and only 400 are available. The winner will be selected Sept. 1. Proceeds help continue programs to help women and girls promote betterment of their lives and commitment to the community. Autism support group The Parents of Children with Autism support group will meet 7-9 p.m., June 24 in the banquet room of Wulfy's. League of Women Voters meets The Pahrump League of Women voters will meet at 6:30 p.m. June 20 at Great Basin College-Calvada Campus. This will be the first annual election and installation of the executive board. Men and women are invited to attend. Guests are welcome. Call 727-3978 for information.
