Great Basin College Foundation has established a program to benefit students with child care requirements enrolled at each of the institution's campuses across rural Nevada.

Qualified students will be awarded $750 per semester for child care, with an additional $250 if there is more than one child to be cared for.

Applications for the assistance are now being taken. The deadline for applications is June 30. The awards will be announced July 15.

To be eligible, students must be "Pell Grant eligible" and be enrolled in at least nine credits of course work. Students must maintain a 2.5 GPA in order for the award to continue into the spring semester. Once assistance has been awarded, the student must submit proof of child care expenses.

Child care providers must meet IRS requirements for being a qualified provider.
