Two recall petitions were circulated directly after Monday morning's special town board meeting by Larry Sanford, who has lived in Pahrump for 17 years.

Both Town Board Chairman Nicole Shupp, who is the sole remaining member of the previous board, and Vice Chairman Bill Dolan are named.

The notice of intent was filed with the state Friday, June 5. The minimum number of signatures necessary for a recall election for a town board member is 2,473.

"I have never gotten involved in politics until now," said Sanford, "but I feel I have to step up."

Sanford is dissatisfied with the way the town's business is handled by the town board as well as Town Manager Bill Kohbarger.

The petition regarding Shupp says, "She doesn't represent the will of the people and demonstrates arrogance in her attitude to the citizenry of Pahrump."

On the petition to recall Dolan, the reason listed is, "Fails to represent the voices, concerns, and the needs of the people of Pahrump."

"We have been lied to by the town manager and town board members," said Sanford in regard to PTO No. 43, the Pahrump Town Ordinance detailing trash services.

Petitions have also been filed nominating Sanford and Amy Riches to run for the seats of Shupp and Dolan.
