Public forums

I missed the sheriff's report is the newspaper this past week, but noticed a small blurb about Sheriff DeMeo holding public forums that brought up a question or two.

When will the newspaper start printing the police reports again? And, would Sheriff DeMeo interview with the paper as to what these forums would cover? Would it cover topics as follows?

Why do some Judges allow these alleged offenders to be released without bail or just sign a paper that they will show up in court? Some of the charges are serious enough that bail should be collected (in case they don't show up and then the county, who certainly could use the money, collects). I read that and wondered how our sheriff's office feels about doing their job and then this happens at court.

Because of the size of our town and the enormous county they cover, the sheriff and his deputies have a tough act to follow and I have often observed and read about them doing a great job. I want to know what we, as law abiding citizens, can do to help make their jobs easier. Would that be covered in the forums?

Please be sure and put that blurb in the paper again closer to the dates to remind people of these forums. I think that the community should get involved so we continue to have a safer place for our children to grow and a better place for everyone to live.

Thank you.
