PHOTO SMITH STARS
SPECIAL TO THE PVT Tyrell Smith, a former Pahrump Valley High School standout pitcher, starred at Feather River (Calif.) College this spring, winning nine of 10 decisions, while striking out 46 and compiling an earned-run average of 2.22 in 56 2/3 innings. Feather River won 40 and lost 3 during the regular season, with Smith being named pitcher of the year. Teammate Ryan Giacomini was named player of the year. |
