PVHS athletes receive awards

The Pahrump Valley High School athletics department honored its spring student-athletes Monday, in the gym before 200 parents and friends.

A variety of awards were given for excellence in boys golf, baseball, girls fast-pitch softball and boys and girls track, as well as academics.

The boys golf team earned Nevada Class 4-A All-Academic honors, with individual awards going to Ryan Hammar, Elliot Owens and Josh Spradlin. Most improved were Ryan Hammar and Dorian Patel. The MVP award went to Shane Lindemann.

The award for softball state Academics went to Leanne Morrow. Most improved was Taylor Ball. Rachel Hartwick and Leanne Morrow won coaches awards.

For defensive player of the year, the award went to Petra Bieghley. For offensive player of the year, the award went to Taylor Raymer. The MVP was Rebecca Gamble.

The award for baseball state academics went to Eduardo Martinez. The coaches award was earmed by Joe McCaw. Eli Cline and Alex Davidson were most improved. For defensive player of the year, the award went to Michael Gonzalez. The offensive player of the year was Martinez, who was also named MVP.

The awards for boys track state academics went to Mason John, Thomas Rosenkranz and Connor White. Nathaniel Jacobi was named rookie of the year.

The award for most improved went to Nick Stearns. The award for Hardest Worker went to Connor White. The Trojan Pride award went to Alex Anderson. The MVP was Stearns.

Girls state academics awards went to Kayla Foster, Megan Hamrick, Shelby Hughes and Ashley Rencher. The awards for School Records went to McKenzie Dean, Ashley Lindgren, Stevie McElheny, Taylor McJunkin and Ashley Rencher. The Rookie of the Year Award went to Reegan VanEngen. The Most Improved award went to Stevie McElheny. For Hardest Worker the award went to Taylor McJunkin. The Most Reliable award went to Ashley Rencher. The Trojan Pride award went to Ashley Lindgren. The Most Valuable award winner was McKenzie Dean.

The Female Scholar Athlete of the Year award winner was Samantha Sposato. The Male Scholar Athlete of the Year was Joey Colucci.

The award for Female Outstanding Athlete of the Year went to Kristi Daffer. For Male Outstanding Athlete of the Year the awards went to Ande Floyd and Zach Weldon.
