Male prostitutes may work at brothel in rural Nevada
By MARK WAITE
BEATTY -- Heidi Fleiss may not have been successful at opening a male brothel but Bobbi Davis, owner of the Shady Lady Ranch, hopes to offer men as well as women to customers at her house of prostitution 22 miles north of here. The gigolos would work in a new Peacock Cottage, a separate building she constructed at the rear of the regular brothel, she said. "When Heidi wanted to do her thing, we had several people ask us and we said nobody does that. With the way the economy is going we thought we'd give this a try, see if it floats and if it does, we'll go from there," Davis said. Sheriff Tony DeMeo made the announcement during a meeting of the Nye County Licensing and Liquor Board Tuesday morning. DeMeo said he received an e-mail from Davis who talked about wanting to try a new business model. "She's going to start interviewing people for male entertainment. When I e-mailed her back for more specific information she said she's going to start interviewing for male prostitutes at Shady Lady's," DeMeo told commissioners. DeMeo said the Nye County district attorney's office is being asked to research the request. "Unless the State Board of Health wants to readdress the entire issue of the testing regimen it can't be done. Men don't have a cervix," George Flint said, the executive director of the Nevada Brothel Association. Davis admitted the health exam could be an issue but she could still avoid changing the state law. Before she would begin hiring the men, Davis said she will let her intentions be known, with the stipulation there are some issues that remain to be worked out and see what happens. |
