Mosquito season has begun in Nye County

Mosquito season has begun in Nye County.

Mosquitoes can carry diseases such as West Nile Virus and Nye County Emergency Service would appreciate public assistance in the prevention of breeding mosquitoes by taking the following precautions:

* Dump any and all stagnant water around your property. Even a small cup of water can be home to thousands of mosquitoes.

* Report mosquito problems, green pools and stagnant water to Nye County EMS immediately. With community assistance, that organization can be a part of the solution.

In addition, African honey bees have been confirmed in Nye County and problems should be reported to a local pest control company.

In the event of an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately. For more information, call Kevin Kleinworth at 751-4279.
