FILL THE BUCKET

Renee Durkin donates a couple bags of school supplies to Valley Electric Association Marketing Manager Staci Behnke, at left, during the third annual VEA Fill the Bucket Truck drive at the Walmart parking lot Saturday morning. Valley Electric reported donors filled the bucket 11 times with school supplies, though contributions were down from 19 buckets filled last year, partly due to the reduced hours of the event, held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. this year. Some area businesses matched a challenge from local car dealer and restaurateur Tom Saitta to match his $100 donation to the cause Saturday morning. Pat Michel from Terrible's Town Casinos delivered a full case of backpacks. Donors can still contribute school supplies at VEA or at Kaye's Allstate Insurance.
