SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Pahrump Youth Softball Association All Stars will travel to San Diego, Calif., for the California State Games that celebrate 20 years of Olympic dreams.

Opening ceremonies will be July 17 at 7 p.m. and will be held at Qualcom Stadium. The event is usually sold out.

This is a night where every athlete will be treated as an Olympian.

Several actual Olympians and other professional athletes will also be in attendance.

The Pahrump association will be there because the PYSA is a part of the Junior Olympic Program.

Pahrump girls and coaches will be honored in a parade of athletes walking with the best from several states. Along with the parade, there will be torch-running and cauldron-lighting, just as in the Olympic Games.

It can all be checked out on the Internet at calstategames.org.

All games will be at Hourglass Fields in San Diego. There is not a round robin, and Pahrump will go straight into a double elimination bracket. Therefore, the first game is set and the rest are based on win and loss. There are 16 teams in each division.

Ten and under: July 17, 9:45 a.m., PYSA Extreme Heat vs. Tierra Canyon, Field 2.

Twelve and under: July 17, 9:45 a.m., PYSA Extreme Heat vs. Central Grizzlies, Field 3.
