William T. Gordon Jr.

William "Bill" T. Gordon Jr. passed away July 4, 2009.

Bill was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Carlisle, Pa. He was the son of the late Barbara and Bill Gordon, also of Carlisle. He had lived in Pahrump for 15 years, having come from Las Vegas.

Bill attended Carlisle High School and graduated from Perkiomen Prep outside of Philadelphia, Pa.

Following high school, he received a BS from Delhi University in New York and continuing his studies, he graduated from UNLV with a degree in hotel management and business administration.

Bill had a wonderful and humorous disposition and truly loved fishing, boating and being outdoors.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family, friends and work acquaintances.

His most recent employer was the Pahrump Nugget after having worked many years in the casino industry in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Taylor Marie Gordon, and her mother, Peggy Gordon, both of Pahrump; sister Betsy (George) Comstock of Malvern, Pa.; niece Christy and nephews Kevin and Bill (Michele), all of Malvern.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., July 11 at the Gordon residence, 1080 E. Bridger St.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.

Keith Kay Koerner

Keith Kay Koerner, 72, of Las Vegas, passed from this life on July 6, 2009.

He was born Sept. 3, 1936, to Herbert and Mayme Koerner in Aberdeen, S.D., and raised in Leola, S.D.

While growing up in Leola, Keith attended school and participated on numerous athletic teams before graduating from Leola High School in 1955.

He was married Nov. 19, 1960, to Marian Margaret Witt. They were married 35 years when Marian preceded Keith in death in July, 1996.

While earning a Bachelor of Science degree in education from Northern State University, Aberdeen, Keith was a member of the Wolves football and track teams. He earned a Masters of Education degree and Educational Doctorate degree from Brigham Young University.

Through the years Keith has lived in Leola and Aberdeen, Bellingham, Wash., Sparks, Provo and Orem, Utah, Eureka, Beatty and Las Vegas. For 12 years Keith worked for the YMCA in Aberdeen, Bellingham and Sparks. The next 30 years were spent in education as a principal, teacher and coach, where he touched the lives of countless students.

As a member of the Aberdeen Order of the Scottish Rite; Aberdeen, Bellingham and Sparks Jaycees and Sparks Kiwanis, Keith held numerous offices culminating as the president of the Sparks Jaycees.

Keith is survived by his three children Kim Friel (James), Tim Koerner (Serena) and James Koerner (Beth); four grandchildren Anthony Friel, Andrew Friel, Keith Koerner, and Rebecca Koerner, all of Las Vegas. He is also survived by two sisters, Virginia Brietag of South Dakota and Avis Moore of Minnesota as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Colette Catalano

Collete Catalano, 73, passed away July 6, 2009, in Las Vegas.

She was born Dec. 17, 1935, in Quebec, Canada and moved to Pahrump in 2006 from Henderson.

She was a homemaker who loved kids and babies, gardening, cooking and life in general. She was of the Catholic faith.

Her daughters Anna Douglas, Linda Catalano, Sandra Lowndes and Brenda Ingram; three grandchildren and her surrogate daughter, Cameron survive her, along with her beloved companions Tiger and Sammy.

Her ashes will be scattered at sea. (07/06/2009)
