Richard W. Steeley

Richard W. Steeley, formerly of Berks County, Pa., died in his home in Pahrump June 21, 2009, where he resided with his wife Barbara.

Richard was retired from the U.S. Navy and was the former owner of Viking Pest Control Co., Inc. He was also the author of "Kaladon," a science-fiction novel published in 2000.

He was the son of the late Sadie A. Weitzel and is survived by daughters Bonnie L. Steeley and Diane L. Gelsinger; son Richard M. Steeley and grandsons Michael D. and Kristopher A. Gelsinger.

Services will be private. (06/21/2009)

Eduardo S. Gonzalez

Eduardo S. Gonzalez, 89, passed away July 3, 2009, in Las Vegas.

He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Texas and was a resident of Pahrump, having come from Mississippi.

He was a veteran of the Army and served his country during wartime.

He retired as a Master Carpenter, was of the Catholic faith and a member of the church.

Surviving are daughters Marie Hays of Redmond, Ore., Angie (Juan) Sanchez of Boise, Idaho and Lorenza Bird of Pahrump; son Raul of Boise; sisters Silvestra Ybanez of San Antonio, Texas and Delores (Lupe) Auala of Houston, Texas; brother Rene Gonzalez of Laredo, Texas; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Angela, grandson Michael and his parents.

The viewing was 5 to 6 p.m. July 7 at Pahrump Family Mortuary and burial will be at noon, July 8 in the Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Boulder City. (07/03/2009)

Hertha Glass Ronich

Hertha Glass Ronich, 73, passed away June 2, 2009, in her sleep at home.

She was born June 15, 1935, in Czernowitz, Romania, and was a resident of Pahrump for 20 years.

Having emigrated from Romania, Hertha had a deep love and appreciation for America. She set a strong example of patriotism and took an active role in the community.

She was a talented musician, artist and ballet dancer who enjoyed gardening and cooking.

She was a member of the Knitting Nancys, the Pahrump Friendship Club, Friends of the Library and the Museum Guild.

Hertha is survived by daughter Florica Williams Hagendorn; brother Wolfgang Glass; sister Elfrieda Glass Lederer and grandchildren Amber Russell-Hart and Erik Hagendorn.

Services were held at 12:40 p.m. June 15 at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nye County Animal Shelter or Best Friends Animal Society. (06/02/2009)
