2005 study outlines street improvement schedulePVT
A 2005 study by Tri-Core Engineering provides the framework by which Nye County plans to begin street improvements in Pahrump from year 2006 to 2015, much of it paid by the impact fees for streets. The company used the condition of the pavement, right-of-way requirements, daily traffic count, safety risks and land use planning in drawing up the list of priorities. The following streets were to be addressed by the year 2010 in the study. By order of priority they are: * Charleston Park Avenue from Highway 372 to Leslie Street with a traffic signal at Charleston Park and Highway 372; * Homestead Road from Highway 160 to Gamebird Road; * Wilson Road from Leslie Street to Highway 160 with a traffic signal at Highway 160 and Wilson; * Pahrump Valley Boulevard from Calvada Boulevard to Highway 372 where a traffic signal is needed, then continuing up East Street to Wilson Road; * Manse Road, from Fox Avenue to Highway 160, including a traffic signal at Highway 160; For the remainder of the 10-year Tri-Core plan, from 2011 through 2016, the company suggested improvements to Bell Vista Avenue, Hafen Ranch Road, Calvada Boulevard, Thousandaire Boulevard and more sections of Homestead and Manse roads. Nye County Acting Public Works Director Dave Fanning said the county is addressing a few streets. "We are a couple years behind, obviously, but the money is there and allocated," he told the capital improvements advisory board last week. (See related article this page.) Fanning said the county has funding allocated for a hydrological analysis of Homestead Road downstream of Highway 160 toward Gamebird Road, which will be studied after a study of flooding from Wheeler Wash. Manse Road, Homestead Road and Charleston Park Avenue are all priorities, Fanning told the committee. But he said the downturn in the economy has affected impact fee collections. |
