Joseph DeCosta

Joseph DeCosta, 82, passed away June, 23, 2009, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas.

He was born May 12, 1927, in Mattapoisett, Mass., and was a resident of Pahrump for three years.

He was a veteran and served during the Korean Conflict.

He was a retired Master Electrician for Otis Air Force Base in Cape Cod, Mass.

In Pahrump, he served as the vice president of the Artesia Association.

Surviving are his wife, Eileen, of Pahrump; children Joseph Jr. of Louisville, Ky., Thomas of Acushet, Mass., Betty Mendonca of New Bedford, Mass., and Christine Ng of San Francisco, Calif.; step-daughter Laraine Babbitt of Las Vegas; stepson Brian Babbitt, also of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents Anthony DeCosta and Grace Napier and a brother, Jack.

Services are pending.

Mary Lucille Rickard

Mary Lucille Rickard, 102, passed away June 21, 2009.

At the age of 94, she moved to Pahrump to be with her nephew and she resided in Beehive Assisted Living until her passing.

She was born in Linn County, Iowa, to Charles and Anna Johnston and was the third oldest child in a family of four.

She remained a lifetime member of Linn Grove Presbyterian Church.

She grew up on the family farm until her marriage to John (Jack) Rickard in 1930. Jack passed away in 1938 and she lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa until 2001.

She had many jobs during her life -- worked in a packing house, was a seamstress and a caregiver/practical nurse.

At the age of 68, she decided to retire and spend several months a year helping her sister, Lora, take care of her son, Bob, who had Crohn's Disease.

She is survived by her nephew, Terry Johnston, and family and cousin, Claire Stabenow and family.

She was preceded in death by an older brother, Marvin, older sister, Lora, and a younger brother, Wilbur.

She requested to be buried at Linnwood Cemetery in Cedar Rapids with graveside services. (06/21/2009)

Randy W. Harris

Randy W. Harris, 47, passed away June 29, 2009, in Las Vegas.

He was born April 6, 1962, in Breckenridge, Texas, and was a resident of Pahrump for five years, having come from Las Vegas.

He was employed by the Coca-Cola warehouse, had a 12-year education and was a member of Choice Hills Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy Harris of Pahrump; son Kevin Harris of Pahrump; daughter Samantha Harris of Pahrump; mother Carol Harris of Las Vegas and sisters Janet Webb and Rhonda Bamba, both of Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clifford Harris.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. July 6 at Choice Hills Baptist Church. (06/29/2009)
