'We the People' set for tomorrowPVT The Shadow Mountain Community Players and the Pahrump Arts Council will present a patriotic musical, "We the People," as part of the "We the People Jubilee," scheduled for the Pahrump Nugget Events Center July 4. The patriotic tableau begins as a town committee discusses putting on a show for the community. Just what does America mean to them? With the Preamble of the Constitution as a framework, the show is a series of sketches and songs, organized phrase by phrase from the Preamble, addressing not only how the Constitution applies to the past, but also for the present and future. Everyday life will be showcased in funny and touching vignettes, offering a variety of moods and exploration of the deeper meanings in the language of the Constitution through an eclectic blend of folk, blues, '50s rock-n-roll, gospel and country music. From neighbors arguing their constitutional right to crabgrass to an immigrant's heartwarming rendition of coming to America; picnics, tributes to the military, letters home from the wars, all have become part of the patchwork of American life. The musical serves as a reminder that the remarkable words written by the forefathers are still a living document and a part of human lives each and every day. The show will be staged at 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., July 4 in the Nugget Events Center. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. They are on sale now at Secret Sisters Boutique, Pahrump Community Library and the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce office. Tickets will also be available at the door.
