GOLF TOURNEY ON 4TH OF JULY Openings remain for the Inferno

The 14th annual Pahrump Valley Open Inferno Golf tournament will be played on the Fourth of July on the par 59, 3,600-yard Lakeview Executive course. The stroke-play format event benefits the Pahrump Valley Youth Golf Founders Club. It is sponsored by Worden's Insurance, the Pahrump Valley Times and Century 21 Aaimheigh. The entry fee is $30 per player and includes greens fees and an after-tournament lunch at the clubhouse. There are openings, with the first 72 entries to be accepted. (The entry form is on Page B-2 in today's Times). Tee time is 7 a.m., with a shotgun start. Several prizes will be awarded. Make checks payable to the Pahrump Valley Open Inferno and mail them to 2440 S. River Plate, Pahrump, NV 89048. Entries can also be dropped off at Worden's Insurance. An electronic entry form can be requested from lbgoins@hotmail.com. The 2008 winners were Chad Goins, with an Inferno Open-record 55; Julie Floyd, for the third time in the women's division, and Brownie Brown; then 81, he shot a 68 and claimed the Seniors title at minus 13 (score to age). ---- Another in a series of weekly Pahrump Valley Junior Golf Association tournaments was played Monday on the Executive course. Shane Lindemann, a rising senior on the Pahrump Valley High School boys golf team, shot a five-under par 29-25--54 to lead all players. The results: Girls 15-18: ShyAnne Dixon 40-35--75, Ashley Keller 38-40--78, Danielle Altiero 40-48--88. Boys 15-18: Shane Lindemann 29-25--54; Elliott Owens 33-36--69; Shea Duerler 40-42--82, Curtis Weir 40-44--84; David Markwell 43-47--90. Girls 9-11: Samantha Altiero 46; Katelyn Button 54, Tiffany Hurford 54, Courtney Jersic 57, Jordyn Houser 58.
