The 25th annual Challenge Cup Baker to Vegas Relay will be contested March 14-15.

The 20-stage, 120-mile foot race featuring law enforcement teams from all over the United States will start at Baker, Calif., and end at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel. The race will begin a few miles from Baker High School at around noon Saturday, with the first runners expected to get to the hotel around 3 a.m. Sunday.

More than 200 teams are expected to enter the race, which courses through the Shoshone area, Pahrump and the Spring Mountains before entering Clark County.

* Another major event slated for Nye County is the TSCO Vegas-to-Reno Off-road race, presented by Las Vegas-based Best in the Desert.

The race -- to be contested Aug. 19-20-21-22-23 -- is being billed as the longest off-road race in the United States. The race will be 1,000 miles in length, starting somewhere in Nye County and finishing near Dayton on U.S. 50.

The Best in the Desert event will include time trials Aug. 18, contingency and technical inspections Aug. 19 and three race dates.
