SOUTH 1-A Hornets divide twin billSPECIAL TO THE PVT BEATTY -- Clay Tormey scored 27 points, and Henderson International overcame an early 16-8 deficit to beat the Hornets 64-49, in Southern Nevada Class A League boys' basketball Friday. In the girls' game, Beatty won easily. 65-24. Beatty's boys fell to 4-2 in the league, 9-9 in all games, with the loss to first-place International, 5-0, 10-11. The Hornets, however, are still in contention for the playoffs. Danny Moerman added 17 points and Jay Sutorius 10 for the Wolverines. Anthony Regalado led the Hornets with 16 points. Joe Serrano and Jacob Sumpter each scored 10 for Beatty. The Beatty girls are 3-2 in the league, 8-9 in all games. Friday, the Hornets are at home against Round Mountain (boys 2-3, 5-13, girls 3-1, 7-10). Saturday, another Nye County rival, Tonopah, visits. The Muckers boys are 1-4, 2-11, while the girls are 3-1, 3-3. Round Mountain's boys defeated Lund 55-48, but the Lady Knights lost 45-34. Lund's boys are 1-4, 2-13, while the Lady Mustangs are 4-0, 12-2. In other league games last weekend: Trinity 62, Indian Springs 40 -- At Indian Springs, Budweiser Hawkins scored a game-high 26 points and the Thunder (2-2, 8-8) downed the Thunderbirds (0-4, 4-10). Gage Neuwohner and Avery Harden each scored 16 points for Trinity. Junior Baker had 18 points, and Patrick McClain scored 10 for Indian Springs. Lake Mead Christian Academy 74, Spring Mountain 38 -- At Lake Mead, the Eagles (5-0, 13-6) took a 22-3 lead after one quarter and cruised to the win. Jeffrey Newton led four Lake Mead players in double figures with 15 points. Alex Mayorga (14), Landon Littlefield (13) and Demetrius Turner (10) also hit double-digits for Lake Mead. For Spring Mountain (4-2, 6-15), Davonte Sandifer led all scorers with 22 points. Pahranagat Valley Alamo 49, Mountain View 41 -- At Alamo, Brady Whipple had 25 points and eight rebounds to lead the Panthers over the Class 2-A Saints in a non-league game.
