Roy and Olesya Shawgo of Pahrump were arrested Jan. 22, charged with three counts each for allegedly setting fire to their home at 951 W. Lupin St. this past fall.

They are charged with first-degree arson, arson with intent to defraud insurance and solicitation to commit arson.

Bail for each suspect was set at $12,500.

The arrests culminated an investigation by the state fire marshal's office and Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue Services.

On Oct. 12, firefighters were dispatched to the Shawgo's home to investigate smoke but arrived to find the home involved in fire that had extended to a recreational vehicle near the house.

Despite various propane and other tanks blowing up within the attached garage, the fire was controlled, with a significant portion of the home saved.

The house was not occupied when the firefighters arrived, but Olesya Shawgo arrived shorty after the fire was discovered, and her husband arrived later from his job at the Nevada Test Site, where he is a member of the fire and rescue crew.
