Farmers Cup

The Farmers Cup Adult-Junior Golf Series will be contested in 2009.

"However, it will start later in the spring, or early summer," said organizer Robert Worden. "Dates have not yet been set, but I will be scheduling those soon."

The tournament format includes pairing an adult with a junior player (7 to 18) in medal play, with at least one tournament a month scheduled from February through May.

Sharks

The Rosemary Clarke Middle School basketball teams have started their 2008-2009 seasons.

The remaining games:

A-Team

Jan. 22 -- Girls at Faith Lutheran; Faith Lutheran at boys, 6:30 p.m.

Jan. 24 -- Mesquite girls, 1 p.m.; boys, 2:15.

Jan. 30-31 -- RCMS tournament, at Pahrump Valley High School

Feb. 4 -- Amargosa Valley, 5:30 p.m.

Feb. 14 -- At Mesquite, 1 p.m.

March 6 -- At Boulder City tournament.

The Sharks played games Jan. 3 and Jan. 14, but scores have not been reported.

Remaining B-team games are Jan. 22, vs. Faith Lutheran; Feb. 4, vs. Amargosa Valley, Feb. 14 vs. Indian Springs and Feb. 28, vs. Beatty.

Bowling

The Pahrump Valley Tournament Bowling Club will hold a singles no-tap event Jan. 24 at the Nugget.

Squads will be at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The tournament is open to active club members only.

Rod Paulson Inc. will be the sponsor for the club's first tournament of 2009.

Youth baseball

Pahrump Valley youth baseball registration will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays through Feb. 9 at Honeysuckle Park.

The times are 5 to 7 p.m. each Monday (Jan. 19, 26, Feb. 2, Feb. 9) Wednesday (Jan. 21, 28, Feb. 4) and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Saturday (Jan. 17, 24, 31, Feb. 7).

Age groups are 4 to 18, with May 1 the age determination date.

T-Ball and Rookies will be in the 4-8 age groups; Minor, Major, Junior, Senior in the 9-18 age groups.

The cost will be $65 for 4-8s and $95 for 9 to 18s. Payment arrangements will be available.

Anyone planning to be a manager or coach should go to the sign-ups and pick up information packets. That information should be returned as soon as possible.

Clinics

The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association has scheduled several pre-season rules clinics for 2009 spring sports.

All of the Southern Nevada meetings will be conducted at Silverado HighSchool on Feb. 12. All will start at 3 p.m.; the sports are baseball, boys golf, fast-pitch softball, swimming, track & field and boys volleyball.

Northern Nevada officials meetings will be Feb. 9 at Bishop Manogue High School in Reno, with the sports baseball, boys golf, fast-pitch softball and track & field.

Northeastern Nevada clinics will be Feb. 10 at Elko, with baseball and softball the sports to be covered.
