Mardi Gras parade The Pahrump Chamber of Commerce is seeking participants for the Mardi Gras celebration to be held at 1 p.m., Feb. 21. Enter a float, group or family, walk or ride in a decorated vehicle. Costumes are highly encouraged. For more information or an application, contact the chamber, 727-5800. Artist's reception The Pahrump Arts Council will host an artist's reception fo the Marie Ann Layley-Marti memorialshow 1-3 p.m., Jan. 16 in the Pahrump Community Library. The show closes Jan. 22. King and queen of Mardi Gras The Pahrump Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for a king and queen for the upcoming Mardi Gras Celebration. The winners will be ambassadors for the day and lead the parade to be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 21. Contact the chamber, 727-5800, for more information. Fiber Arts 2009 The Pahrump Arts Council will sponsor the annual Fiber Arts Show Feb. 20 - 22 at the Bob Ruud Community Center. The deadline for entries in Jan. 22 and forms must be accompanied by a check for $5. Forms are available from Debbie Rodriguez. Call 727-6777 to get a form. The show hours will be 1-6 p.m., Feb. 20; 9-5 p.m., Feb. 21; 10-4 p.m., Feb. 22 and the awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Twelfth Night The Pahrump Arts Council and Pahrump Valley High School Drama Department will stage William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," in a one-night-only show at 7 p.m. Feb. 21 in the PVHS auditorium. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are $10, with reduced prices for PAC members and students. Call 751-6776 for more information and tickets. Missoula Children's Theatre The Pahrump Arts Council will host the Missoula Children's Theatre performance of "Robin Hood," scheduled to perform 2 and 6 p.m., March 14 in the PVHS auditorium. Batik workshop The Pahrump Arts Council will sponsor a SMART workshop/class for batik on paper Jan. 23 in the 4-H Building at the corner of Calvada Boulevard and Dandelion Street. Sabori at Great Basin Local artist, Andrew Sabori, will be teaching an art appreciation class at Great Basin Community College this semester. Art 160 is an art appreciation class that will include art history, starting with cave paintings. The class will start 7-9:45 p.m., Jan. 27. Registration will be held at the main campus, 551 E.
