Pahrump Valley's boys travel to Las Vegas Friday, in a quest for their first-ever Sunset Region Southwest Class 4-A Division basketball victory.

The Trojans, 0-4 in their inaugural season in the division and 7-9 in all games, will play the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks (1-2, 5-9) at 7:30 p.m.

Pahrump Valley went 0-3 last week, bowing 82-52 to Bishop Gorman (4-1, 11-4), 76-45 to Sierra Vista (4-0, 15-3) and 59-43 to Western (1-2, 6-6).

Pahrump Valley, playing at home Thursday against Sierra Vista, trailed 8-7, 34-23 and 59-32 at the quarters, as the Trojans had trouble with the Mountain Lions' full-court pressure.

Marvin Weekly had 16 points and Tyler True added 11 for the Lonnie Shereck-coached Trojans. Quin Chow fired in five 3-pointers as he scored 20 points for Sierra Vista. Ray Tapusoa added 18.

At Western Friday night, Deion Harrell had 13 points and eight rebounds to help the Warriors defeat the Trojans. Brad Cairo had 12 points and five assists to help Western, which held Pahrump scoreless in the first quarter.

Weekly had 15 points, with True adding 13 for Pahrump Valley.

In other Southwest games last week:

Miguel Reyes had eight of his 22 points in overtime to help Sierra Vista's boys basketball team defeat visiting Bishop Gorman 86-82 Friday.

Tapusoa, who had 23 points for the Mountain Lions, hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in regulation to send the game into overtime. Gorman had held a six-point lead in the fourth quarter.

Sierra Vista led 38-35 at the half, but quick fouls by the Mountain Lions put Gorman into the bonus midway through the third quarter. The Gaels hit 29 free throws in the game as three Sierra Vista starters fouled out.

Chow had 20 points and Amir Garrett 11 rebounds for the Mountain Lions.

Kylel Coleman, who hit 12 free throws, had 28 points to lead Gorman. John Loyd had 16 points, Anson Winder scored 15 and Czar Robotham 11 for the Gaels.

Desert Oasis 70, Bonanza 69 -- Cameron Mich'l had 29 points, including two free throws with 11 seconds to go in overtime to help the Diamondbacks edge the Bengals. Mich'l's free throws gave Desert Oasis a 70-67 lead. Bonanza then missed a 3-point attempt and made a rebound basket for the final margin. Nick Cruz added 11 points for the Diamondbacks. Andrew Whiting led Bonanza with 21 points. Matt Vu and Dasean Martin each added 13 points for the Bengals, who led 48-42 entering the fourth quarter.
