Search still on for killer
By GINA B. GOOD
The search for Jaime Albarran continues not only in Nye County but across the country, according to Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo. Albarran is wanted in connection with the Dec. 28 shooting and killing of Valentyna Kram at the DC Travel Center convenience store at the corner of Mesquite Avenue and Highway 160. DeMeo is aware of the almost daily rumors saying the alleged killer has been apprehended. "These rumors not only hamper our investigation, they hurt the family," said DeMeo. KLAS-TV in Las Vegas, reported Albarran had been captured early in the investigation, causing a brief cancelation in the alert put out by NCSO and confusion among law enforcement agencies in Las Vegas and elsewhere. "The best way to confirm the status of this case is to check our Web site," said DeMeo. He added that when Albarran is captured, the Web site will be updated immediately and media outlets will be notified. The Web site address is www.nyecountysheriff.net.
