Louis J. DeCanio, who ran unsuccessfully for justice of the peace in 2008, will likely find himself in court anyway.

He was arrested Saturday at 4:37 p.m. and charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He has since been released with bail set at $3,000, according to Capt. Bill Becht.

DeCanio reportedly called the Nye County sheriff to report all-terrain vehicles driving on the roadway.

When deputies responded to the call, the ATV drivers told them there had been a heated argument, during which DeCanio drew a firearm.

According to Sheriff Tony DeMeo, "It was clear that the description of the gun backed up the information from the victims."
