FEDERAL DETENTION CENTER: Restraining order effort fails
LAS VEGAS -- U.S. District Judge Kent Dawson issued a ruling Friday stating Concerned Citizens for a Safe Community and its president, Donna Cox, failed to meet the burden of proof necessary for the issuance of a temporary restraining order against the proposed Pahrump federal detention center.

Daffer scores 31, PV girls end skid
Pahrump Valley's girls, who ended a three-game losing streak with a 62-31 rout of Las Vegas Western Friday, return to Southwest Class 4-A basketball action this Friday, taking on homestanding Desert Oasis in a division game at 5 p.m.
