Durango, Sierra Vista win

Las Vegas Durango edged Desert Oasis 45-42 in a Southwest Class 4-A Division boys' basketball game Tuesday.

At Durango, Kris Bennett's steal with 27 seconds remaining led to the go-ahead free throw by Chrishawn Hopkins as Durango (6-4, 1-1 division) defeated Desert Oasis (4-6, 0-1).

Hopkins made one of two free throws to break a 42-all tie, and Marcus Falley's steal and layup for the Trailblazers at the buzzer provided the final margin. Bennett also had 14 rebounds, and Falley and Devonte Williams had 12 points each for Durango. Cameron Mich'l led Desert Oasis with 18 points.

Bonanza 51, Clark 37 -- At Clark, the Bengals overcame Clark's 21-11 burst in the second quarter by outscoring the Chargers 32-14 in the second half.

Dasean Martin scored 10 of his team-high 16 points in the second half for Bonanza (3-7, 1-1), and Arin Matt added 10 points. Isidro Garcia had 13 points and Steven Dancy 12 for Clark (2-7, 1-1).

Sierra Vista 81, Spring Valley 64 -- At Sierra Vista, Quinten Chow, Ray Tapusoa and Amir Garrett combined for 63 points as the Mountain Lions (13-3, 2-0) beat the Grizzlies (5-7, 1-2). Chow scored 23 to top Sierra Vista, which led by as much as 20. Tapusoa added 22 and Garrett 18. Dallin Molina chipped in with 11.

Justin Omogun led Spring Valley with 19 points, and Jesse Chippoletti and Tyler Lewis had 14 each.

Canyon Springs 80, Western 61 -- In a non-division game at Western, the Pioneers (10-5) beat the Warriors (5-5) behind 15 points each by Michael Thompson and Antonio Snow. Adrian Snow added 10 points for Canyon Springs, which outscored Western 23-11 in the third quarter to pull away.

Brad Cairo led Western with 12 points, and Melvin Washington and Ehbert Talice contributed 10 apiece.
