MLK scholarship fundraiser

The All Peoples Breakfast Celebration, in honor of the late Martin Luther King Jr., will be 8:30-10:30 a.m. Jan. 19 in the Pahrump Nugget Events Center.

There will be entertainment, door prizes, raffles and a silent auction.

Tickets for the breakfast are $10 in advance and are available at the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Manse PTO needs volunteers

The Manse Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization is looking for members of the community who might have knowledge, skills or abilities they can share with the students at Manse through the after school enrichment program.

They are looking for activities to enhance student education, which are not offered as part of the curriculum.

Currently scheduled are geology, cheerleading, drum lessons, and crafts made from recycled materials. Classes begin in the spring. Deadline to participate is Jan. 20. DAR meets

The Pahrump Springs chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will meet at 10 a.m. Jan. 14 in the library.

Robert Alvis will present a program on the 1783 Treaty of Paris ending the American Revolution.

Anyone interested in the program or who would like information on the DAR contact 727-9297.

Attention crafters

A new group of crafts people is forming. After getting organized, the mission will be to find ways to promote the group and the products and generate sales as a business and not just through occasional craft fairs.

Artisans of all mediums are welcome and include painters, fabric arts, silver- and goldsmiths, woodworkers, beaders, makers of cosmetics, candles, soap and other bath products and other handcrafted items.

VEA energy seminar

Valley Electric Association will host an energy seminar at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 in the Pahrump Community Library.

The AARP Driver safety Program will hold a two-day class 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Jan. 21 and 22.

Auto insurance discounts for having taken the class may apply. Check with an insurance agent.

Garden Club landscape tour

The Pahrump Valley Garden Club is planning the annual landscape tour to be held April 25.

Home landscapes south of Highway 372 are to be represented.

Those interested in having their home featured as part of the tour should call 751-0532 or 751-4785 by Jan. 31.

A variety of styles and landscapes, formal and informal, are encouraged.

Laureate Omicron meets

The Laureate Omicron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 12 in the home of Rae Moreno who will present the cultural program which will follow the "Recipes for Friendship" theme.

January 20, members will travel to Las Vegas for a day of shopping and lunch. Guests are welcome.

The Central Valley Baptist Church will host a program by evangelist and motivational speaker Dan Ham at 6 p.m. Jan. 11 and 6:30 p.m. Jan. 14, at the church, 3170 S. Blagg Road.
