LAS VEGAS -- Pahrump Valley's girls went into a prolonged scoring drought and lost five of six games in the Las Vegas Classic basketball tournament, at Centennial High School here.

The Trojans, now 10-7, lost:

* 55-31 to Mesa, Ariz., Dobson;

* 39-30 to Henderson Coronado;

* 50-34 to Douglas Minden;

* 52-28 to Anchorage (Alaska) Dimond and

* 40-30 to Sparks Spanish Springs.

Their only win was a 55-38 conquest of Las Vegas Mojave, which also finished 1-5 in the tournament. Twice in the Trojans' Centennial tournament history, they were 1-4.

Alyson Kunzi and Kristi Daffer scored nine points each against Spanish Springs, a northern Nevada Class 4-A team.

The Jason Odegard-coached PV girls return to action Tuesday at home against defending Nevada Class 4-A champion Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, in a Sunset Region Southwest Division game.

Thursday, Sierra Vista visits and on Friday, the Lady Trojans' NBA-style schedule continued with a division game at Western.

* Dimond edged Silverado 51-50 and Douglas stopped South Anchorage 54-39, while Mojave kept Wellington (B.C.) winless with a 30-20 win, in other games involving PVHS opponents Tuesday.

* Highland of Gilbert, Ariz., won the Classic title Tuesday, edging host Centennial 57-55.

Highland, 16-1, advanced to the finals with a 47-32 conquest of Henderson Green Valley, while the Karen Weitz-coached Bulldogs, 14-2, prevailed 84-48 against Dobson to move on.
