DVR season opens

Dwarf cars raced last Saturday and will return to the Death Valley Raceway March 7, when racing action resturns to the one-third mile dirt oval.

AMARGOSA VALLEY -- Kelly Gutchess won the Dwarf car feature at Death Valley Raceway, which opened its second season here Saturday.

Gutchess, who also won during the Best of the Best Wild West Shootout contested earlier this year at DVR, outraced Bobby Meek to the checkered flag on the one-third mile dirt oval.

Troy Seymore, Scott Kelley, Cecilia Dillie, Justin Kimsey, Leroy Kay and Mike Bean completed the feature grid.

Steve Stringer won the super stock feature, with Wyatt Ehrp, Eric Henderson, Dale Daffern, Pete Wallace, Jim Wulfenstein and Mike Lysinger in pursuit.

Mark Spence was the classic couple main victor. beating Terry Hiser, C.R. Ferrill, Richard Grimm, Robert Pearson and Steve Figgins.

G. Verne was the mini-stock winner, with Anthony Broadhead second and Chad Broadhead third.

Completing the feature lineup were Jonathan Burch, Keith Young, Skip Wise, Cassandra Martin, Michel Riefler, Stacy Stinson, Don Winde and Jabez Broadhead.

The track resumes action March 7 at 1 p.m., with the IMCA modifieds joining the Dwarf cars, super stocks, mini stocks and micro sprints in the motorsports action.
