Youth baseball Pahrump Valley Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken League baseball registration has been extended through Saturday, which means the late fee has been waived. There are a few openings available in all divisions. Registration is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Age groups are 4 to 18, with May 1 the age determination date. T-Ball and Rookies will be in the 4-8 age groups; Minor, Major, Junior, Senior in the 9-18 age groups. The cost will be $65 for 4-8s and $95 for 9 to 18s. Payment arrangements will be available. For information, call 751-9595. So far, there are 364 players registered, with the season to begin March 28. There are five Minor, four Major and four Junior teams scheduled to play this season. March 28: Opening Day, 9 a.m. Pahrump ended its affiliation with the Williamsport, Pa.-based Little League program at the end of the 2008 season. Quarter Auction The 2009 Quarter Auction -- the major fundraiser for Pahrump Valley's junior golf programs -- will be March 14 at the Pahrump Nugget. The fundraiser, which has raised more than $100,000 since its inception in the early 1990s, annually attracts more than 300 people, who go after some major prizes -- and can win one by donating at least a quarter. The admission price is $20 or $60 and makes the purchaser eligible to win prizes. The money pays for scholarships and other expenses incurred in running Pahrump Valley Youth Golf Founders Club programs. Send admission/donation to Larry and Elaine Goins, at 2440 S. Bowling Jan Johnston and Don Woods totaled 1,659 to win the A Division in the Pahrump Valley Tournament Bowling Club's doubles tournament last weekend at the Nugget. Leo Kibbee-Jerry Adams had 1,645; Kibbee-Richard Alderman 1,599; Bruce Cox-Phyllis Wagner 1,568 and Mary and Jerry Neese 1,550. In the B Division, Shawn Webster-Dottie Cole won with 1,683. Webster and Teri Trump had 1,539. Webster won the side pot with 918, followed by Woods with 886, Kibbee 857, Alderman 836, Terri Johnston 818, Adams 788, Johnston 773 and Jerry Runau 771. Coaching the boys' teams are Tim Wombaker, John Toomer, Andy Andersen, Bryan Holmes, Robert Worden, Steve Jersic, Steve Bahret, Garth Oakey, Dave Harris and Oscar Lopez. Girls coaches are Renae Lindgren, Susan Toomer, Tommy Cochrell, Joe Roderick, Doug Maughan, Chaz Chumley and Steve Behret. Players sought The Pahrump Valley Predators baseball club is seeking two or three additional players for the 2009 season. The team is for 11- and 12-year-old boys. Hole-in-one Bob Hurd scored a hole-in-one at the Lakeview Executive course last week. He aced the par 3, 160-yard seventh hole. Witnesses were Lou Norton, Everette Greenwood and Bob Jacob.
