Sexual Abuse Response Team The Nevada Outreach Training Organization/No To Abuse, NCSO, the Nye County District Attorney's office and Desert View Hospital will launch SART, Sexual Assault Response Team at 10 a.m. March 4, in the clinic across from the entrance to the hospital Emergency Room entrance. SART will make sexual assault examinations available to all women in Nye County. Trained nurses will be available at Desert View Hospital here and Nye Regional Medical Center in Tonopah. Call Clelia Garrity, 775-751-1118, for more information. West Star Ranch The West Star Ranch Old Dog Rescue Thrift Store is open 10-3 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday, 780 Manse Road. The proceeds support the no kill rescue for dogs and cats. Donations for resale are welcomed. They ask the public to spay and neuter pets. Call 727-9273 for more information. VFW in February The VFW hosts a swap meet the second and fourth Saturday of each month 9-4 p.m. on the VFW grounds. The third Saturday at 11 a.m., VFW Ladies Auxiliary at 1 p.m. Wednesday -- poker, noon; Friday -- dinner, 5-7 p.m. Cost is $6 or $7. Check the menu at 727-6072. PVCAT meets The Pahrump Valley Community Action Team will meet at 9 a.m. Feb. 27 at the chamber office on Highway 160. The public is invited to attend and join one of the committees; beautification, public relations or education. The current project, the cleanup of Highway 160, is headed by Al Balloqui. Soroptimist schedule Soroptimist of Pahrump Valley will carpool to the district winter meeting on March 7. The cost of a reservation is $45. RSVP to Claudette, 764-0480 by Feb. 28. The fee will be paid at the door. The potluck meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. March 3 at the Winery Clubhouse. The speaker will be Denise Pilkington, CEO of Homeland Heroes and Dep. Library notices * Pahrump Community Library will host a preventive health event for local residents offered by Life Line Screening at the library on April 28. Raymond Visconti will present "Conducting Your Job Search," "Resume Development," and "Preparing for the Interview," among others. Visconti has a MA in applied research and evaluation psychology and spent 20 years in the field of human resources. The workshop is free and open to the public. Fish Fry Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church will host a fish fry 4-7 p.m. each Friday, Feb. 27 through April 3, 781 E. Gamebird Road. Fried and baked fish dinners are $7. They will also have fish tacos, fish taco dinners, clam chowder and homemade desserts. Coffee or punch is free and other beverages will be available. RCMS testing schedule Rosemary Clarke Middle School will adhere to the following test schedule for students. It is important that students be in school on these dates, schedule other appointments accordingly.; Feb. 26-27 -- Science make up for eighth grade only; March 3 -- Math, sixth grade; March 4 -- Math, seventh grade; March 5 -- Math, eighth grade; March 4-9 -- Math make up for grades 6-8; March 10 -- Reading, sixth grade; March 11 -- Reading, seventh grade; March 12 -- Reading, eighth grade and March 11-16 -- Reading make up for grades 6-8. Model Train Club meets The Pahrump Model Train Club will meet at 9 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Pahrump Valley United Methodist Church, 1300 E. Highway 372. Join a group of people who are nuts for trains. Food drive Nye County Emergency Services will host another food drive 10-2 p.m. Feb. 28 in the parking lot of Albertson's, 200 S. Highway 160. Items needed include peanut butter, jellies, beans, noodles, rice and canned products such as meats, fruits, soups and vegetables. The food drive will help to keep the food banks full. Computer Users Group meets The Pahrump Computer Users Group will meet at 1 p.m. March 2 in the large meeting room of the Pahrump Community Library. Don Norvell will demonstrate creating a free Internet site using a free online domain name and free Web hosting. Mike Erwin will present on his favorite top 10 free downloads and will provide a free CD of the programs and utilities he demonstrates to attendees. Parking at the rear of the library is preferred. Handicap parking is still in front of the building. New members may pay a $5 annual membership fee at check-in and collect their raffle ticket. Relay For Life kick-off The Relay For Life kick-off celebration will be 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Feb. 28 at the Pahrump Nugget. Team sign-ups will begin.
