Two home town heroes were nominated for special recognition by residents of Pahrump.

As a result, Nye County Sheriff's K-9 Deputy Eric Murphy and Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue Service Chief Scott Lewis were selected by the television show America's Most Wanted as having "All-Star qualities."

Murphy and Lewis are currently featured on the show's Web site with other first responders nominated across the country.

There are seven weeks left in the contest. One winner is selected weekly based on the number of emailed votes. A total of eight weekly winners will then be pitted against one another for one final vote.

Visitors to the contest pages may cast one vote a day at www.amw.com/allstar.

Each contest week begins Sunday at midnight and ends the following Sunday at 11:59 p.m. EST/EDT. The all-star voting period starts April 16 and ends at 11:59 p.m. EDT May 4.
