The Nevada Outreach Training Organization (NOTO) has launched a new campaign to raise money for its operations and the kick-off will be a talent show and a sit-down dinner, among other things, starting at 5 p.m. March 21 in the convention center at the Nevada Treasures RV Resort on North Highway 160.

Ron Frazier, the president of No To Abuse's board of directors, said the organization needs to raze and replace the building on Blagg Road.

This is the first of several planned fundraisers scheduled for this year. Frazier hopes the end result will be about $60,000 in revenue.

The talent show is open to everyone and applications are available at No To Abuse, Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce, KPVM Channel 41, Saitta Trudeau and Frazier Furniture.

Contestants are required to be 18 or older and talent is limited to comedy, music, dance and magic. The entry fee is $20.

The applications must be submitted by March 12 for pre-screening auditions scheduled 6-8 p.m. March 12 and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 14. Pre-screening will take place in the studios at KPVM Channel 41 on Higley Road. Contestants may walk in for auditions on either day.

The pre-screening will produce 20 competitors for the show beginning at 7 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded: first place, $200; second place, $125 and third place $75. All those who don't make the final cut will be refunded the entry fee.

The menu for the sit-down dinner will be chicken cordon bleu, a vegetable, salad, baked potato, rolls, cake and coffee or tea. A cash bar will be available for those who want cocktails, wine or beer.

Besides the talent show, there will be additional entertainment provided by April Spain and Marcel.

Spain, a jazz and blues singer, has performed in some of the big hotels in Las Vegas and is also scheduled to perform with Tom Saitta and Friends when Saitta's new restaurant, Tomassino's, opens in March.

Her style mimics that of Diana Krall and Nancy Wilson.

There will also be a silent auction and a 50-50 raffle.

Some of the items up for auction include a remote controlled car from Saitta Trudeau, a beauty basket from Great Lengths Salon, an RV recliner from Frazier Furniture and dinner for two at Tomassino's.

Tickets are $50 per person for dinner and the show and are available at the chamber, Saitta Trudeau, Frazier Furniture and No To Abuse.

Part of the funds will benefit the execution of safety plans for victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

Those wishing to donate to the auction may contact Clelia Garrity, 751-1118.
