Two artist's receptions are scheduled for today.

Due to a scheduling conflict, the date of the Pahrump Art Council's artist reception for Don Tracy and Kay Smith at the Charleston Peak RV Clubhouse at the winery has been changed from Saturday, Feb. 28, to 10 a.m.-noon, Friday, Feb. 27.

Both Tracy and Smith have lived in Pahrump approximately 16 years and their works are readily recognizable from their years of participation in Art & Sol. For the past 10 years, they have exhibited their work at the PAC sponsored event. Art & Sol 2009 was held last weekend at the Bob Ruud Community Center.

Their works include large western gourds and beautiful paintings.

Tracy has been painting and drawing since childhood. He took his first lesson from a master painter at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

After spending 20 years in the military he returned to his love of art as pictorial sign painter and providing illustrations for magazines and posters. Tracy has two styles of painting. As Don Tracy he paints mostly traditional western scenes. As his alter ego, "Ycart," or Tracy spelled backwards, he paints vivid, humorous abstracts.

Smith has been drawing since childhood as well. During her working years she was employed in newspaper.

She is a self-taught artist and paints people, horses and landscapes with great skill.

This showing of fine art will be on display until March 13.

The second artist's reception will be held 1-3 p.m. today in the Pahrump Community Library.

The current show on display features longtime resident and artist Ernie Fuller, who moved to Pahrump 14 years ago, is a retired mechanical engineer. He put his talents to work on several projects here and as those neared completion, decided to fulfill a personal desire to learn about art.

Fuller enrolled in the local college and immersed himself in studies with oil painters Jose Bellver and Jan Ruquoi, watercolor artists Art Wilson and Donna Yarnell and acrylic artist Gene Anderson.

Over the years Fuller has joined working groups of artists in Pahrump and Tecopa and learned from their various techniques.

Fuller has combined all medium types into his works and states "he enjoys them all." Examples of his work will be on display at the library until March 6.
