If you did not attend the first annual Mardi Gras over the weekend, sponsored by the Pahrump Valley Chamber of Commerce and hosted by Nevada Treasure Luxury RV Resort, you missed out on one great time in Pahrump.

There was something for everyone, carnival rides and face-painting for the youngsters. Food and a variety of other vendors set up, and there was live entertainment for all to enjoy.

Saturday's events included a parade around the park with the first king and queen, Ray and Irene Wulfenstein, in the lead, throwing beads and waving to the crowd lining the parade route. They were followed by Nevada Search and Rescue, the Pahrump Gunfighters and a host of others.

There was a Cajun Cook-Off, and I heard the bread pudding was absolutely fantastic.

Sunday morning offered a "Mardi Gras French Quarter Breakfast" to appease any palate from 9 a.m. to noon.

If you have not been to Nevada Treasure Luxury RV Resort, you owe it to yourself to take the short ride and see what an oasis in the desert looks like.

This has got to be one of the finest RV Resorts in the West. Beautifully landscaped and maintained RV spots, an absolutely fantastic pool and sun bathing area, a wonderful club house, a bowling alley, and the hits just keep on coming.

Managed and operated by Charlie Cochran, I can foresee many weddings, anniversaries and other special affairs taking place at this local resort. Honestly, it's one of the most beautiful attractions in Pahrump.

So, if you missed the Mardi Gras, mark your calendar for next year as this is going to be an annual event.
